Jeffrey was living paycheck to paycheck, just trying to get by to support his family. And then he was laid off from work, right when the pandemic started. His friends and church suggested he contact New Hope for help in getting back on his feet with skills training and finding a job. He did just that. Jeffrey signed-up for our budget and soft skills classes, and soon after, Jeffrey enrolled in our Welding Program.
In that program, Jeffrey gained leadership skills, an attitude to give back, and a sense of purpose and value for using his skills in a high-demand field. “It’s not just a job,” Jeffrey shared with us. “I’m pursuing a career.”
Because of generous people like you who support the work we do at New Hope, Jeffrey is employed today as a certified structural welder. His family has an emergency fund and a savings account now. Gone are the days of living paycheck to paycheck! “My only regret is that I didn’t find New Hope’s program sooner,” Jeffrey said. “Thank you for believing in me. You invested in my entire family and I’m very grateful for that.”
Jeffrey’s story should make you smile, and so should this: Our good friends at The Metzler Family Foundation are offering a matching challenge!
