Celebrating 41 Years of Service:
An impact beyond words!

After 41 years, New Hope is saying thank you and farewell to our Mechanicsburg caseworker Linda DeCroes as she retires.  To be fair, this isn’t Linda’s first retirement, but we are so grateful for her four decades of service to the Lord and to New Hope.  If you’ve ever met Linda, you’ve probably got your own stories and memories of an irrepressible, compassionate, and dedicated person who loves people and loves Jesus.  Linda has her own stories about how God worked in her life to overcome tough times and to realize what God can do through the life of a broken person.  She served the Community Progress Council as a community outreach worker in the early ’80s, and when their northern York County programs became the genesis for a new program called New Hope Ministries, Linda was one of our first employees.

Linda has literally worked with generations of New Hope guests.  I’ve never known anyone who could make people as mad as Linda.  She never failed to speak the truth, but it was always motivated by love, and for those who would accept it, it was the right message to lead people to important life changes.  There have been so many times people have come back and said, “You made me so mad, but you told me exactly what I needed to hear, thank you.”  Linda’s advice and example have shaped generations of New Hope staff and volunteers and made all of us better at helping our neighbors.

I would invite you to take a look at our 40th-anniversary video series to hear some of Linda’s stories and wisdom.  We wish her abundant life and happiness as she transitions to a much-deserved retirement and hope she will be a regular visitor at New Hope.  We love you, Linda!

1 Peter 4:10 (NIV), “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.”
